What Teaps Stands For

You didn’t choose your cat. Your cat chose you. That bond deserves better than what’s sitting on a pet store shelf.

The Founder

Justin never planned on building a cat brand. He knew for the longest time that he wanted to build something. He just didn’t know what. And then, the idea came from something obvious. People wear crystals. People have worn them for a very long time. If it exists for us, why not for our pets? So Justin decided to make a crystal pendant for cats, and Teaps the brand was born. Most people who know Justin were surprised, and some of them are still confused. Crystal jewelry for cats is not the business anyone expected him to start. But for Justin, most pet gear is made on the assumption that it’s just an animal and an animal doesn’t need anything nice. If you care about what you bring into your home, that doesn’t stop at your cat. That’s the whole idea behind the brand.

Teaps the Cat

Every brand has an origin story. Ours has orange fur. Justin’s wife adopted Teaps a week before the two of them met. He was there for the first date, the apartments, the wedding, all of it. Twelve years. Teaps greeted everyone the same way. He would run over and rub against their legs, usually before they’d made it all the way through the door. Except he didn’t do it for everyone. Some people he kept his distance from, and after enough years the pattern was hard to miss. They were the ones who didn’t care much for animals. Then their daughter came home from the hospital, and Teaps was better with her than anyone expected him to be. Justin watched it happen for years before it clicked. Teaps was reading their energy. Teaps passed two years ago. The brand is named after him.
